About Kelly

Kelly is a tech-focused communications strategist helping clients – from Fortune 500 companies to up-and-coming startups – communicate their value with compelling, data-rich storytelling.

Her book Get Attention: Brand Building for Startups has been read by entrepreneurs around the world.

Kelly’s roots are in technology communication. She began by helping represent female founders & moved to CTIA, the U.S. wireless trade association. Today, she continues to work in the trenches of tech policy in addition to working actively in the DC startup scene and advocating for the underrepresented in the industry.

Kelly’s talks and workshops are designed to help tech-focused professionals incorporate communications best practices into their careers and side projects. Her goal is to empower people to advocate for themselves – whether that’s by cultivating a strong & genuine personal brand, pitching the media on your subject matter expertise, or self-publishing content to control and amplify a bold narrative.

Personal Branding Workshop:

This program arms participants with an understanding of how to effectively tell your own story and market your worth.

In 1-3 hours (workshop timing is flexible as needed), you’ll learn:

  • The value of personal branding
  • How to build a unique and authentic story
  • The best social media and public platforms to market yourself
  • How to kickstart your personal branding efforts with a dynamic bio
Media Training:

Delivered one-on-one or in groups, this session helps build participants’ skills when talking to media and understand how to best utilize opportunities with reporters.

In 1-2 hours (workshop timing is flexible as needed) you’ll learn:

  • How the media works; how a story goes from idea to published
  • The value of thorough preparation prior to engaging with reporters
  • How to take control of a conversation and deliver messaging
